Right, phew, after that hectic last week I’m now back home for Easter. Thus, I discover that Matt Glover from Chewing Pencils is holding another drawing project. Cue two hours of mad scribbling, a few broken nibs, substantially inky fingers, much Bob Dylan and a new loathing of hatching.

The result of this frantic paper-masochism is displayed for your viewing pleasure below! Check out the project blurb here

Oh, yeah, the deadline’s today – hence the rush..

Yes, I’m still alive – honestly. Doing a full-time engineering degree leaves a woefully small amount of time to create artwork but Easter is coming up and I shall once again attack paper with ink.

I’ll try and get some done this week. They’ll be uploaded if I can get to a scanner by next Friday!

Now I’ve written this, I’d better actually do it – nothing like a kick up the rear eh?

Easy out.

Sorry for the lack of activity here – I’ve been indulging in Christmas holidays, forgive me!

I’ll be uploading some more pictures soon, once I get access to a scanner. Until then, sit tight and check out the chewing pencils site for some really good entries to the ‘January Drawing Project’.

My submission for the Chewing Pencils comp!

We all hate the Microsoft Office paper clip, so it would just be typical of the ubiquitous Microsoft to have already colonised Mars with it as the tour guide.

You never know..

Life on Mars?

The link to the competition post is here

I’ve come across a few old comic strips I drew a while ago. I’ll upload some more when I get a chance and maybe draw some more too.

You’ll have to excuse the bad lettering – I was experimenting with a fine-liner pen!

Right kids, here’s my awful attempt at computer colouring. The original ink picture is displayed so you can see how it looked before I electronically vomited on it..

Give me real paints anyday! There are better people than I out there who can colour cartoons rather well, but this is my first attempt to see what the pictures look like after computer colouring. I’m not too sure about it, but you be the judge…

Ok, so I’ve stumbled across a competition at a site called ‘Chewing Pencils’

It basically states to draw an open-themed gag cartoon on a canvas size of 8cm x 5cm. That’s pretty small, so I’m experimenting.

Anyways, here’s an example of the size required – not much room, so there’s the challenge!

(This isn’t my submission by the way, because it’s not that funny..)

The india ink doesn’t scan as smoothly as I’d like, but it’ll do for now..

I’ve also been messing around with colour on photoshop (I’m awaiting a watercolour set for Christmas, so I’m resorting to photoshop for now!)

Results of this will be posted in a sec…

Having returned from University for Christmas, I have little to do but draw (yes, I know I could get a job, but I have other things to be doing, like sleeping). Here’s one I did today:

Yes, hello to anyone who’s actually managed to stumble accross this..

As the title suggests, I draw cartoons to distract myself from important things such as work (I’m a student, hence the ‘broke’ part) and will attempt to upload some for general perusal in the hopes that a student-cartoon-loving-billionaire will actually divert his attention from billionairising, find this and sign away his fortune. For now I’ll settle for mild abuse from the unwashed masses..

Oh, and I may rant occasionally,

Easy out.

P.S. A picture, to give you a taster (click for the full size version):

Another 4,000,000 years should do it

“Another 4,000,000 years should do it”

A quick sketch. For those who don’t get it – give the monkey 4,000,000 years, he’ll evolve and start launching REAL rockets. Just like NASA. Geddit?
